PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The new Police, Jail and Fire Station has been added to the existing City Hall and Safety Building at the 43 Munroe Falls Avenue site in the heart of Munroe Falls, Ohio. This city of 6,000 people desired to enlarge its cramped and outdated safety facilities requiring demolition of existing building and renovation of the existing spaces and the addition of the following areas: A 5-day, 6-cell Jail Facility, Central Lobby and Police Dispatch, Police Department Offices, Sally Ports, Evidence, Ammunition and Property Rooms, Men’s and Women’s Lockers. Fire Department Offices, Kitchen, Lounge, Radio Room, Turn Out Area, Training Room and Locker Rooms Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are also located within this facility, offering a totally inclusive emergency center. The new addition posed a significant interface challenge since the existing attached City Hall is a historic, 2-story wood structure. A complete state-of-the-art facility had to be designed, while maintaining the existing façade and building vocabulary.
